Do
you hesitate getting rid of clothes due to the money you spent
on them? Remember, thisy overstocking is costing you in
closet space, in remorse and in the amount of frustration when
you can’t
find something you’re looking for in a jam-packed closet.
-
You
wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time (open those closet doors
and think about it)
-
Overwhelming
task? When organizing, target one room – one area – one
spot (closet, drawer, or corner).
-
Four
ways to go: KEEP – CONSIGN -- DONATE – THROW
-
Set
a timer for 30 minutes and see how much you can get done in that
time. Repeat until the closet works for you.
-
Ready,
sort, purge –
- Does
it look good on me?
- Do
I love it?
- Does
it fit?
- Have
I worn it lately (in the last 12-18 months)?
- Is
it in style?
- Does
it need fixing?
- Is
it a duplicate?
- Is
it comfortable?
-
For
each new item you add to your closet get rid of one. One
item in – one item out. This will maintain
a manageable level of clothes.
-
For
those items you will be donating, you will need to check with
your favorite donation site. Donate clothes so that
someone who truly needs it can use it.
-
For
those items you will be consigning, store them in a clean, dry
location.
